Hi, I'm Meagan!
I'm a mixed-media artist and grad student based in Northern Colorado. I'm a certified art teacher and working on my master's in psychotherapy with a focus in trauma-informed care.
I love all things art-related (seriously), getting outside in nature, coffee shops, and thrifting!

About my therapeutic work...
I am currently a Counseling Intern at The Art of Becoming Collective in Fort Collins, Colorado. I am working toward my Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Narrative Focused Trauma Care, at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. As I step into clinical work, I consider myself to be grounded in a trauma-informed, narrative, and psychodynamic approach. Essentially, this means that I believe that stories shape our lives, holding both profound beauty and deep tragedy. Through open curiosity, tender care, and disruptive kindness, we can begin to explore the stories that have shaped you, and empower you to live in the fullness of who you were created to be.
I believe we were fundamentally created for goodness, wholeness, and deeper connection to ourselves and the world around us. Unfortunately, so much of our lived experience is shaped by brokenness and relational pain. No matter what has brought you here, I offer a safe and grounded space to explore what has been silenced, bring hidden parts into the light, and gently weave the threads of your story back into the whole of your being. I believe healing happens when your story is witnessed and tended to with care and curiosity. My work is shaped by a commitment to making room for complexity, emotion, and meaning, trusting that your body knows the truth and longs to move toward restoration. Together, we will honor your pace, your voice, and the unique way your healing takes shape.

As a mixed-media artist and creative myself, I see imagination and exploration as vital pathways toward connection. Engaging creativity allows us to meet ourselves with honesty, compassion, and courage, honoring all the parts of who we have been and who we are becoming. This process can invite you into a richer, more embodied way of living. The journey inward can be both challenging and greatly rewarding, but through creative collaboration, you don’t have to walk the journey alone.

You are welcome here. Your grief, doubt, confusion, anxiety, depression—and equally your joy, success, and courage—your story in all its intricacy, has a welcome and wanted place here.

About my artistic journey...
Meagan graduated from Oral Roberts University in the Spring of 2022 with a BFA in Art Education. Creating has always been a hobby, but it wasn’t until high school that she invested herself in the endless abyss of creative processes. While facing a number of traumatic events during high school, art became her way to cope and heal. Meagan’s teachers and professors helped steward her artistic talent toward excellence and inspired her to follow a similar path. Meagan is currently pursuing her Masters in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Narrative Focused Trauma Care at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. Her dream is to build a career at the intersection of the arts + theology + psychology and to come alongside others in their healing journey to experience freedom and breakthrough.

You might see this symbol around here. My full name is Meagan Joy Tarka. I created this "logo" out of my initials (MJT) when I first started creating ceramic vessels in high school, and the design stuck.
